64-year-old bicyclist hospitalized after getting hit by a truck in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash Wednesday afternoon after a pickup truck hit and injured a bicyclist.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. on State Road 53 near Southwest Golden Fate Trail.

The 52-year-old driver from Lee City advised that the bicyclist pulled out in front of him from the woods, according to the press release.

The 64-year-old bicyclist was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story reported two cyclists were involved, based on information provided to WCTV by a dispatcher. An FHP release later sent to WCTV detailed only one cyclist was involved.
