One dead, one seriously injured after head-on crash in Calhoun County
CLARKSVILLE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a head-on fatal crash early Wednesday morning that left one person dead.
The crash happened around 12:53 a.m. on State Road 20 near Reeder Road.
For an unknown reason, a 45-year-old man was driving a sedan without a seatbelt on in the opposite lane on State Road 20 while an SUV was traveling eastbound in the proper lane, according to FHP.
As both vehicles met near the intersection of Reeder Road, the sedan collided head-on with the Suv.
According to FHP, the sedan driver from Panama City was killed on the scene and the 51-year-old SUV driver from Quincy was seriously injured and transported to Bay Medical.
The road was closed for multiple hours for the safety of the emergency response personnel due to the unlit area, fog and road blockage.
