The site manager said that between 25 and 50 tires caught fire. He said he left the shop between 5:30 pm and 6 pm and got a call around 30 minutes later about the fire.
He said when he arrived back on the scene there were several firetrucks at the salvage yard.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
