City of Tallahassee Parks & Rec offers cooling sites amid record-breaking temperatures

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - As the temperatures continue to rise, passing more than 100 degrees, the City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Division is offering residents various places to cool down and escape the heat around the city.

“This is a time for extreme heat, and we really want people to be safe,” said City of Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Director, Ashley Edwards. The centers have chairs in the lobby, along with free water and Gatorade.

Edwards said this is a great time to take advantage of community pools, but it’s also important to stay hydrated while you’re in the water. “Just make sure if you need water, if you need to take a break, please do,” said Edwards.

The community centers listed will be open throughout the day for Tallahassee residents to come in, enjoy the cool air and hydrate.
