TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Taylor County and Dixie County Sheriff’s Office have formed a “unified stance against crime” and signed a mutual aid agreement, the agencies announced in Facebook post Friday.

Taylor County Sheriff Wayne Padgett and Dixie County Sheriff Darby Butler met on the Captain Chad Allen Reed Memorial Bridge for the signing of the agreement.

This agreement will permit voluntary cooperation and assistance of a routine law enforcement nature across jurisdictional lines, and will provide for the rendering of assistance in law enforcement emergencies, according to the agencies.

The post said Sheriff Butler and Sheriff Padgett recognize the importance of reducing crime and the causes that perpetuate criminal behavior.
