OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (WCTV) - The Florida State Seminoles won their second game in a 24-hour span as they eliminated the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, 4-2, early Sunday morning in Oklahoma City.

It’s the sixth-straight elimination game win for FSU at the Women’s College World Series.

For the second time in the day, the Seminoles scored three runs in one inning, this time doing so to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the third.

Ana Shelnutt led the inning off with a long, loud solo home run to give FSU a 1-0 lead.

Josie Muffley followed by working a walk and came in to score on a Kaley Mudge RBI double, giving the Seminoles a two-run advantage at 2-0.

Sydney Sherrill followed Mudge’s base knock by bring her home on a groundout to first base, giving FSU a 3-0 lead.

Oklahoma State got one run back in the bottom of the third: Avery Hobson led the frame off by reaching on an infield single and came in to score after Kiley Naomi laid a bunt down but was safe at first on an errant throw to first base by Kathryn Sandercock, allowing Hobson to score as the ball went into right field, making for a 3-1 game.

OSU made it a one-run game in the bottom of the fifth on a run-scoring single off the bat of Chyenne Factor to plate Chelsea Alexander, who opened the inning by reaching on a fielding error from Devyn Flaherty, making it a 3-2 FSU lead.

The Cowgirls could have potentially tied the game on the same play, as the ball off Factor’s bat was misplayed for a split second by Kalei Harding, but OSU’s Kiley Naomi hesitated at the third-base bag and left for home early, allowing Harding and Shelnutt to combine for a 9-2 putout on the third-base line for the second out of the inning.

Sandercock struck Alysen Febrey out swinging, her fourth strikeout of the game, to completely end the OSU threat in the inning.

The Noles got an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning. Mudge reached on a fielding error by OSU third-basewoman Sydney Pennington, tagged to second base on a flyout in foul territory, stole third on a pitch in the dirt and took home on an errant throw from OSU catcher Reagan Wright, making for a 4-2 game.

OSU threatened in the bottom of the seventh inning with a leadoff single from Avery Hobson, but Sandercock’s eighth, and final, strikeout of the game and a game-ending double play erased Hobson and sealed the win for the Seminoles.

After throwing 65 pitches in relief in the first game of the day, Sandercock tossed a complete game for the Seminoles against the Cowgirls, scattering five hits and allowing two runs (neither earned) while walking two and striking out eight.

FSU now advances to play Alabama, who is fresh off a perfect game against UCLA Friday night. FSU has to win twice Sunday to clinch a spot in the WCWS Championship Series, which begins Monday.
